Silk Damask fukusa ( gift cloth) featuring couched metallic thread forming the family crest or mon.
The metallic thread is believed to be gold foil which were wrapped around silk thread. The gold thread was then wrapped around the silk thread and then positioned on the fabric to be "couched" to the fabric with very fine red threads. The red silk threads are so very fine, they are difficult to see with the naked eye and better seen through a looking glass.
Family crest was representative of Ivy.
Original backing was replaced with bright gold velveteen.
Pillow is hand closed with down insert.
